Long time, no post. You know – global pandemic etc… And then some personal stuff (will share soon).

Anyway, I made this blouse at the beginning of March (half a lifetime ago, it seems). It was actually the second time I made this pattern and I had already made quite a few adjustments for my first attempt. There is a full bust adjustment in there (no idea which amount though, anymore, please forgive me), I lowered bust darts and omitted the collar piece. Tbh the collar stretched out so much in my first attempt, there was no rescuing it … and no fabric left to re-cut it.

For this second version, I ended up lengthening both the top bodice part and the peplum by 1.5-2cm. Additionally, instead of the facing and collar piece, I re-drew the neckline and finished the edges with a bias binding, running all the way around the neckline and the peplum. So much neater!

I just love the wrap style of this blouse as well as the gathers below the bust and in the back. The blouse also has quite #prettyguts, since I used french seams everywhere but the sleeve seams. No photos, you’ll just have to trust me on that one. If I make this again, I might pinch a little bit out of the neckline, since it’s rather loose at the moment.

This printed cotton was a lucky find at Die Stoffschwester here in Vienna, and I’m afraid I got the last bit of it earlier this spring!

So, I thought I would start us off on two things I made a while ago. When I first started dressmaking, my goal was to be able to make work wear that would be comfortable as well as a little more stylish than my usual jeans and a t-shirt/sweater.

Don’t get me wrong, I love that my workplace is casual enough for me to wear that combo most of the time. However, I do enjoy dressing up and I felt like I was lacking clothes that sat somewhere in between the super casual and the pant suit.
